Introduction to CIB Shortline Rail

Posted on

The Canada Infrastructure Bank (“CIB”) is a federal Crown corporation and impact investor whose purpose is to invest $35 billion in new, revenue generating infrastructure that will benefit Canadians and attract private capital. Within the Trade and Transportation sector, the CIB has allocated a long-term target of $5 billion available to provide concessionary financing to eligible projects, including shortline rail, to fill the investment gap where traditional private financing is not available. The CIB is interested in working with Canada’s shortline rail operators to explore investment opportunities that support the enhancement and improvement of the sector’s long-term competitiveness and sustainability.
