The Canadian Railway Industry supports the installation of both voice and inward video recorders in the locomotive cab, which if used as part of their own safety monitoring programs would greatly enhance railway safety.

There are a number of railways in Canada that have already voluntarily installed outward facing cameras which are also used for safety monitoring.
