Submission by the RAC on Bill S-4

The bill proposing amendments to the Railway Safety Act, Bill - C-33, was debated before the relevant House of Commons transportation committee, earlier in the year, but died on the House agenda when the Federal election was called.

The industry brought forth recommendations on a few issues, but they were not accepted at that time.

A new legislative proposal has now been introduced into the Senate as Bill S-4. It will shortly be studied by a Senate committee. The Bill is identical to the Bill C-33 as it was modified by the relevant House of Commons committee. Bill S-4 will eventually be brought back to the House for approval.
