The Railway Association of Canada, in association with our Class 1 and Short Line member railways, is dedicated to moving your freight in an environmentally sustainable manner.

A train can move a tonne of freight 169 kilometers on a single litre of fuel. When you ship your freight in a fuel-efficient way, you reduce greenhouse gas emissions associated with your shipment, which helps ensure a cleaner environment.

Each year Canada's railways move two-thirds of all freight by volume, yet are responsible for only three per cent of surface transport greenhouse gas emissions.
